British Columbia Targets High Earners in Latest PNP Draw

British Columbia has issued 429 invitations to apply (ITAs) in a targeted Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) draw held on February 4, 2026.

This draw focused exclusively on candidates identified as creating a “high economic impact” in the province, utilizing strict criteria based on high income thresholds and high registration scores.

Two Pathways to Invitation

The 429 invitations were split between two distinct groups of candidates:

1. High-Wage Workers

A total of 206 candidates were invited based on their earning potential and job offer level. To qualify for this category, candidates required:

  • A minimum wage of $70 per hour (approx. $145,000 per year); and
  • A valid job offer in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation.

2. High-Scoring Candidates

The remaining 223 candidates were invited based purely on their Skills Immigration registration score. The minimum score required was 138 points, a significantly high threshold that targets the top tier of the candidate pool.

Pool Analysis: A Highly Competitive Draw

Data from the Skills Immigration registration pool as of January 6, 2026, reveals just how competitive this draw was.

  • There were only 9 candidates with scores of 150+.
  • There were 67 candidates with scores between 140 and 149.
  • There were 791 candidates in the 130–139 range.

With a cut-off score of 138, this draw effectively selected the highest-ranking profiles available in the pool, leaving the vast majority of the 11,210 active registrations waiting for future rounds.

The BC PNP noted that future “high economic impact” invitations may be based on different factors, directing applicants to section 7.3(a) of the Skills Immigration Program Guide for further criteria.
